My Day

This is a posterity post just for me to remember what life was like at this point. Read on if you're curious :)

Luke is now a little over 21 weeks old, and I feel I can finally say I've settled in to my new role and everyday life. It's not that every day is spectacular, but I'm not feeling lost in my own life.

I will say, it's kind of nice staying home with Luke. Of course, the best part is getting to see him every day, and I'm proud to say that I'm still breastfeeding him which may not have happened if I worked. In addition to those big things, life is not rush-rush-rush. If we need to be home all day because it's been a hectic weekend, so be it. Luke and I run the normal weekend errands during the weekday, so the weekend is free of tasks that "just have to be done". Trey and I get to spend time doing things with Luke we want to do instead of a bunch of time doing other things. Also, I've got a project list going in order to spruce our house up and make it more of what we would like it to be. Since we'll be in this house for probably 4 more years (which is one negative of not working- less money equals less savings), I've decided I need to embrace this house and make it what we want it to be. I'm learning to sew and pinterest has become a part of my daily life. I'm still working on a work out routine, but I know that once he reaches 6 months (which is the safe age to run with him in a jogger AND I feel better about putting him in the gym childcare) and it gets about 20 degrees cooler, we can head out for a jog or a walk at any point in the day. I can make that happen around his nap times which will make him much happier and me less worried I'm depriving him of his precious sleep.

My daily agenda looks something like this:
Wake up when Luke wakes up. But we go back to bed if it's before 7:15 (which is usually when Trey gets out of the shower).
Feed Luke
Play with Luke while drinking coffee and watching ABC morning news.
Watch Good Morning America (then Regis & Kelly, then The View, then maybe House Hunters but the TV is always off from at least noon - 3)
Put Luke down for nap #1.
Eat breakfast, start laundry, unload dishwasher, load dishwasher, etc.
Get Luke up, feed Luke
Play with Luke- run errand here if necessary or head to mall meet up or play date- this is usually the time we get out (at least for now because it's not yet 106 outside)
Put Luke down for nap #2- eat lunch, continue chores
Get Luke up, feed Luke, feed Luke his rice cereal
Play with Luke- usually at this time it's around 3 and we watch Project Runway reruns
Put Luke down for nap #3- internet surf (facebook, blog, pinterest, etc.), continue chores if necessary, start dinner
Get Luke up, feed Luke
Luke plays while I finish dinner
Trey comes home!!
We play with Luke, bathe him and put him to bed around 6:30/7
Trey and I eat dinner then spend the evening together.

So, that's my day in a nutshell (at least for now until something changes :))

It's a good life and it's my life!!

Yum Yum Yum

Rice cereal is all the rage these days!

Luke has been eating it for the past couple of weeks, but I'm just now getting around to going through our 50+ pictures (overkill for sure!) we took of the first time he tried it and finding the few that are worthy of the blog.

Let's do this!

I love my bib. Don't I look cute?

I'm so excited!

Little soupy. Not bad.

I'm down with this.

Hand me the spoon, Mom. I got this.

I Like Tummy Time Now...

... because I can finally roll over!

Here's a video after he rolled. I haven't caught the actual roll at this point. Notice the number of fingers in his mouth at the end. This kid LOVES his fingers!

Emily + Joel

My dear friend, Emily, married Joel in one of my favorite places- Beaver Creek!!
It's a ski resort up in the Rocky mountains near Vail. I've skied here before with Em, but I've never been there during the summer, so I was not only excited for Em's big day but to be in such a beautiful place!

Our condo, The Charter, with the mountain behind it.

Beautiful flowers at the condo. This place was like being at Disney World. Everything was extremely manicured and well-cared for- it made you feel like you were in a fantasy place. Look how bright the colors are! It's amazing!

Her rehearsal dinner was at this park. We dined on pizza and veggies in the cool mountain air. Lovely!

Me with my college roommates.
Me, Emily- the bride, Jacki, and Alicia
We've been friends for about 12 years now! Crazy!
When we get together, we fall right back in together. We have great conversations and I miss being with them already.

Em got married at the Beaver Creek Chapel. It's a quaint chapel right at the bottom of the ski slopes. There's a babbling brook right outside of the chapel while it looks out over the majestic mountains. It's almost as pretty as she was :)

The rehearsal was at an Inn that was very rustic and had an Old West feeling. The reception room had these huge windows that let in the nice breeze but also made the natural beauty part of the room.

Emily dancing with her Dad. Joel, her husband, is to the left of her.

Alicia making Luke laugh.

Luke getting to know Jacki better.

All of us together(except Joel- we couldn't find him).

We stayed in the mountains another day. We figured we'd all need a day to recuperate from wedding fun plus it's too hard to move to another location with a baby. It was great to stay up there because we relaxed and were able to enjoy the cooler temps for one more day!

Luke goofing around for the camera. He's so funny...

Another babbling brook that ran near our condo. You could feel the coolness of the water just by standing near it. Awww.... snow melt, the best!

Ski runs! Wish we could have taken the chair lift up to enjoy those views, but I had fears of Luke falling, so we stayed at the bottom.

On our nature walk that afternoon. I wish we were still there!

Em's wedding was very fun. I'm so happy she got married in such a wonderful place! It was a great excuse for a vacation, and it was great fun to spend quality time with the girls and their significant others. We all had a blast! It also gave me the skiing bug! Maybe we can get back in the winter. I'd definitely recommend this place at any time of the year! It was so fun and absolutely beautiful!!

A Visit from Grandparents

I'm a horrible photographer and this is the one good pictures I took of the grandparent's visit last week. Oops.

But they both came! Luke had a great time with them. In fact, he was exhausted after they left. He enjoyed having people around to play with all of the time. It was fun to have them here!

4 months

This milestone actually happened a week ago, but with a visit from grandparents and a trip to Colorado happening all last week, the blog was ignored. That's ok, though, because those were both very fun things.

We have developments!
We went to the pediatrician on August 1st, and she said Luke was great! He's pretty much doing what he's supposed to for his age :)
  • Weight: 13 lbs. 6 oz.- 25-50th%
  • Height: 24 1/2 ins.- 25-50th%
  • Head circumference:
  • He still only will roll onto his side by himself and he'll only do it in his crib when he's sleeping.
  • He is much better with tummy time- he'll lay with his arms propping him up for 5-10 minutes at a time.
  • He's constantly smiling.
  • He's learned to pick a soft block up with his feet.
  • His favorites toys are Sophie the giraffe, a sphere rattle, soft blocks, and a round circle rattle from Aunt Lauren and Uncle Jason.
  • He likes to make raspberries.
  • He's recently found his tongue and is always sticking it out.
  • He's a great sleeper! He goes down about 7 at night and doesn't get up until 6 or 6:30 the next morning. He takes a lot of short naps during the day, but sometimes they'll be longer.
  • He's grabbing and touching people's faces now.
  • He'll go to sleep on his own in his crib without being rocked to sleep.
  • LOVES being outside!
  • Dancing to music or singing always get a huge smile and a laugh.
  • He thinks his Daddy is the funniest person.
  • Enjoys sitting in his bumbo or propped up with pillows- he doesn't like reclining very much anymore.
  • He has the funniest faces.
  • He wears 3-6 month mostly but will fit into some of his 0-3 month outfits. He's not very big.
  • He's officially in size 2 diapers, though.
  • He loves visitors, so people can come see us!!
We were just fooling around with the new camera, but I thought these pics were pretty funny.
